Our laws on checkpoints, Sunday sales of liquor, etc.  stem from protecting the people.  Overall, I would not want to change them.  However, new testing equipment as part of the car might change the law.

Another, influence on the laws are the community.

Matt asks if I would change the Sunday liquor sales laws, Sunday liquor laws.

A. My emphasis would be to not change anything.

"The sobriety checkpoints employed by the state of Georgia are a clear violation of the 4th ammendment.  The Supreme Court of the US has left it to the states to protect their citizens from this misguided use of authority. "

"Will you persue an end to the practice?  "

Would you support legislation that makes
falsifying a police report a felony requiring jail time?

Police state tactics in the name of perceived safety
benefils are unacceptable to any true patriot.

I hear you!  I got stopped.  I went to court and was about to appeal, when they found they made an error.  What I could not believe is how close they were to being right.  They weaved traffic laws for the purpose of stopping someone.

Actually, there is not an OCGA for roadblocks but instead the Georgia Supreme created laws one inch at a time.

As for the 4th amendment, the US Supreme court does not look at your car as your home.  If the police see anything, they assume everyone in the car is guilty.  The concept is that the passenger compartment is so small as compared to a house, that it assume that everyone in the car is aware of the item and can access the item if the police can see it.

I studied these decisions breifly .. but I am not a lawyer and cannot give advice.

As for the police officers changing records, I would at this understanding agree that they should never be changed, but attached amendments can be added.
